LOPA is our method of choice for SIL determination and risk assessment of process plant scenarios. We have assessed over 1000 scenarios in many sectors and presented IChemE’s LOPA training course for several years across New Zealand and Australia.
SSL have wide experience with the development of all aspects of safety cases under a number of regulatory frameworks. The scope of these safety cases includes formal safety assessments, risk studies, safety management system development/ improvement, and SFAIRP/ ALARP demonstration.

Our consequence modelling expertise covers toxic exposures, fire and explosion modelling, and releases within buildings. We use a mixture of commercial modelling software and internally developed tools.
We offer an assessment of Hazardous Area Classification based on national standards and international codes such as IEC 60079-10-1, EI15 and API 500/505 for fluids and IEC 60079-10-2 for dust.
Our Safety Management System experience covers performance auditing, development of the level 1 framework, element procedure development, and benchmarking.
SSL has over twenty years of history providing process safety support to the process industries. Throughout this history, we work with our clients to improve their systems to reduce their hazard and risk profiles. In recent years, these efforts have become more structured with the development of a process safety audit that covers the organisation and facility and benchmarks an organisation against recognised good practice.
MHF regulations require SCEs to be verified by a competent and independent person. Our verification experience includes functional safety, relief, and other SCEs.
