LOPA Basics Training
This 1-day course is designed for potential LOPA workshop participants and covers the methodology of LOPA and its application across the stages of its application. This course is designed for engineering and operations staff who need to learn the technique so they can effectively contribute to a workshop. For those looking to develop a more expert level skill, our LOPA Facilitator course is recommended.
This course also has the option of an additional 3 hours of one on one training with a senior consultant that could include reviewing your LOPA procedure, supporting your LOPA scenario preparation or reviewing a LOPA report. Just select ‘Course + Support Package’ from the drop down below.
LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis) is a semi-quantitative risk assessment tool used in process plants to evaluate whether existing or proposed protection layers adequately control known hazards. It builds on earlier hazard studies, such as PHAs, and supports compliance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511.
This course introduces the LOPA methodology and guides participants through identifying key risk scenarios and estimating event frequencies for credible worst-case outcomes.
